WUSA Press Release

WUSA PLAYER OF THE WEEK - DAGNY MELLGREN, BOSTON
Boston Breakers striker Dagny Mellgren was named Week 15 WUSA Player of the Week for the second time this season, having also captured Week 5 honors. Mellgren guided the Breakers to a 1-1-0 record for the week and scored 3 goals on five total shots for the week. The 23-year-old scored both goals in Boston's 2-1 win over Washington on Sunday. Mellgren scored her first goal in the 25th minute off a feed from Kristine Lilly. She would be set-up by Lilly again in the 44th minute for her second goal to give the Breakers a 2-0 lead at the half and the eventual 2-1 win. Mellgren also scored a goal in Boston's loss at New York on July 26. A model of consistency, Mellgren has scored seven goals in her last seven games.

The WUSA's Boston Breakers and Washington Freedom will play an historic post-season exhibition match as part of the induction ceremonies for the National Soccer Hall of Fame in Oneonta, NY on Monday, October 8 at the At-A-Glance Field on Wright Campus. As part of the induction ceremonies, the 1991 Women's World Cup Championship Team, which included Kristine Lilly of the Breakers and Mia Hamm of the Freedom, will be honored by the National Soccer Hall of Fame with its prestigious "Medal of Honor," acknowledging the team's pioneering legacy to the sport of women's soccer.

A NEW LOOK IN PHILLY
If you don't recognize Philadelphia Charge goalkeeper Melissa Moore or midfielder Michelle Demko next game, it's because they both recently finished taping an episode for A Makeover Story, the highly rated daytime television show that airs on The Learning Channel. The duo each received a new outfit from a local boutique and got the full salon treatment before unveiling their new looks in front of teammates, family and friends at a Philadelphia restaurant. Moore and Demko's 30-minute episode is scheduled to premier in November.
