
WPS Playoff Schedule Announced

SAN FRANCISCO, CA (July 29, 2009) - Women's Professional Soccer announced its 2009 WPS Playoffs and post-season schedule on Wednesday which will bring the inaugural season of WPS to a close August 30, 2009 at the WPS All-Star Game in St. Louis.
The seven-team league kicked off its inaugural season March 29, 2009 in front of almost 15,000 fans at The Home Depot Center in Carson, CA, and - following a 20-week regular season featuring 70 games that ends August 9 - will conclude with a three-game WPS Playoffs and WPS All-Star Game. The WPS First Round and WPS Championship presented by MedImmune will be produced by Fox Soccer Channel and televised live on Fox Sports Net and affiliates (check local listings); the WPS Super Semifinal will be carried live exclusively on Fox Soccer Channel; and the WPS All-Star Game will be featured live on Fox Soccer Channel and covered on Fox Sports Net in select markets.
The WPS Championship will be played at The Home Depot Center in Carson, CA on Saturday, August 22 with television coverage starting at 3:30pm ET. The Los Angeles Sol earned the right to host this game by winning the WPS Regular Season title.
The WPS All-Star Game on August 30 at The Anheuser-Busch Soccer Park in Fenton, MO, will feature the WPS All-Stars vs. Umea IK, champions of Sweden's top women's league. The full 2009 WPS post-season schedule:
