
WPFL Team to Play during Redskins Game

The Florida Stingrays women's tackle football team announced today that they will play the Jacksonville Dixie Blues on August 28th for a promotional scrimmage during the halftime of the Jacksonville Jaguars and Washington Redskins game in Alltel Stadium. The promotion will consist of a minimum of 8 plays run by both teams.
"It will be an absolute invaluable opportunity for women's football to be able to represent our great state with the Dixie Blues", says Stingrays owner Lizz Bartolo. Don (Braddock) and ourselves share the same enthusiasm, we represent female football players around the globe, and that's an honor."
Expected attendance is 78,000 for the homecoming of Redskins coach and former Florida State University coach,Steve Spurrier. The Jacksonville Jaguars have granted both teams permission to print logos and rosters in the Official NFL gameday program and will sponsor a dinner for both teams. Team merchandise will be distributed to fans throughout the stadium.
The Stingrays depart Miami Thursday morning for a pre-game practice and player appearance in Jacksonville with the Dixie Blues.
