
WPFL Announces Expansion
November 16, 2002 - Women's Professional Football League (WPFL) News Release
The Women's Professional Football League Board of Directors met November 10-11, 2002 and is pleased to announce - the below cities that have been granted franchise licenses to operate for the upcoming 2003 Season: Florida Stingrays and the Atlanta Stealth.
The WPFL, entering its' fifth season, is the oldest and premiere women's full contact tackle football league. In front of enthusiastic crowds with phenomenal media attention, the league began play in 1999 with a barnstorming tour of the nation, with stops in St. Paul, Chicago, Green Bay, Minneapolis, New York City, and Miami.
The 2003 WPFL regular season begins August 2nd and consists of a ten game schedule. Conferences for the 2003 Season are:

The WPFL Championship Game III was played on November 9, 2002 with the Houston Energy winning the Championship Title for three consecutive years in a row!
The WPFL Board of Directors will hold another expansion meeting in March of 2003 and is still in negotiations with several franchises as 2003 potential franchises.
