Women's Football Sizzles in Cincinnati

Nashville, TN-The National Women's Football Association is pleased to announce the name of the Cincinnati expansion team. The Cincinnati Sizzle. The NWFA is the largest tackle football league in the world for women.

"We put an announcement on our website and had our fans send in suggestions for team names," states Catherine Masters, CEO NWFA. "We received tons of emails and chose Sizzle. We have named a couple of teams from contests on our website," adds Masters. Ricky Anders of Telford, TN submitted the winning entry. Ricky has been following the league for 3 years and had a relative that played for the Tennessee Venom.

Tryouts for the Cincinnati Sizzle will be held on November 15th at the Fairfield Youth Athletic Association Field in Fairfield, OH. Registration begins at 10:00m. All participants must be at least 18 and have their own health insurance. There is a one time $35.00 try out fee. The league is also looking for an owner for the Sizzle.

The NWFA boasts 37 teams in 23 states. The league wrapped up its 2003 season with the National Women's Football Championship Game that was held at Vanderbilt University in Nashville in front of 5,726 fans.

The NWFA also has a 5-year TV deal with The Football Network which includes a game of the week as well as coverage of the league's playoff games, the National Championship game and a weekly highlight show during the season.

The 2004 season begins April 3rd.
