Women's Football Hosting More Tryouts in California

Nashville, TN-The National Women's Football Association (NWFA) is set to host more tryouts for expansion teams in California. League officials plan to have teams ready to play in 2005. With 37 teams, the NWFA is the largest tackle football league in the world for women.

Tryouts have been scheduled for the team in the Antelope Valley (Lancaster, CA.) for the 7th of February. Tryouts will be held at McAdam Park in Palmdale. Located at 38115 30th Street East, Palmdale, CA 93550. Registration begins at 10:00am. All participants must be at least 18 and have their own health insurance. There is a one time $35.00 try out fee. Anyone interested in playing, coaching or owning the team should attend.

The second set of tryouts was held Saturday, January 17th in Palmdale, CA. "We had ladies from 18 - 41 with all different skill levels," states Kelli Harris, Antelope Valley GM. "We had one girl in particular that is going to make a fantastic receiver. She really gave it her all, and caught anything in her area. She dove several times during tryouts to make the catch!!! She was outstanding. We had one lady that will be a GREAT linebacker. Real solid, leg presses over 500lbs. She was in great shape and showed great strength and determination," adds Harris. The National Women's Football Association is the largest league in the world for women's football with 39 teams in 24 states! The league starts its fourth season in April and is looking forward to increasing the fan base and national exposure for the league and its teams. Last year The World Championship Game was held at the Vanderbilt University stadium in Nashville in front of nearly 6,000 fans. The league website receives over 3 Million hits per month.
