Manchester Wolves News Release
The Manchester Wolves arenafootball2 team are proud to announce that they will once again team up with the Manchester School District's 21 st Century Community Learning Centers on a unique partnership designed to help promote the value and necessity of after school programs.
The program, entitled "Be A Member Of The Wolves Pack", will reward 11 lucky students with the opportunity to bring a Wolves player to school for one day in May. Along with bringing a Wolves player to school, each selected winner will also win a "family four pack" so that they can attend the Wolves' May 11 th home game against the Albany Conquest. The participating 21st Century Schools are; McDonough, Hallsville, Gossler, Beech Street, Wilson and Bakersville Elementary Schools, Southside, Parkside, Hillside and McLaughlin Middle Schools, and Central High School.
"After school programs like the 21st Century, are known to have positive effects on children in many ways, one of the most important being decreased involvement in crime and reduced dropout rates," said 21 st Century Director Donna Mostovoy. "What a great learning experience for the kids to actually hear first hand the value of these programs from the professional local athletes that they look up to."
There are three ways in which a student can earn his/her chance to be selected as one of the "Grand Prize Winners." Students may buy a raffle ticket from a 21 st Century Site Coordinator for a $1.00, or submit a piece of their own artwork depicting why they would like the chance to "Be A Member Of The Wolves Pack." Students can also receive additional raffle tickets through classroom teachers by demonstrating exceptional student achievement and behavior. One "Grand Prize Winner" will be selected from each of the 11 schools. All entries must be submitted by April 29th, and the "Grand Prize Winner" will then be announced over the morning announcements in each 21 st Century School. All money generated from the "Be A Member Of The Wolves Pack" program will go directly to the 21st Century Community Learning Centers to help pay for more student activities.
"This is just another great way for the Wolves organization to further deepen its roots in the community, and more specifically in helping to provide fun, educational programs to kids," said Wolves Director of Communications, and Manchester native Karl-Sven Bertelmann. "Our owners and staff really take pride in ways where we can help enhance the community in and around the Manchester area, and everyone involved (players, teachers, students) had such a blast during those visits and at the game last year that we just had to get involved again this season."
Last year's winners were as follows: Isiah Moore (McDonough), Karen Rejino (Bakersville), Robert Fernandes (Gossler), Maleeka Harmon (Hallsville), Avery Normandin (Parkside), Winni Madra (Hillside), Caitlyn St. Peter (Southside), Sonja Croteau (McLaughlin) and Michael Pane (Central).
