Manchester Wolves News Release
MANCHESTER, NH (January 12, 2005) In 2004 Manchester Wolves fans packed the Verizon Wireless Arena screaming their support for Chris Sanders, a quarterback that never shied away from a hard hit, always gutted out the tough yards, and broke several team records in the process. Head Coach Jay Gruden and the Orlando Predators took a look at those traits and decided that Sanders needed to be part of their AFL team for the 2005 season.
"Manchester is a great organization. They have a terrific owners group, and the fans showed support week in and week out," said Sanders from the practice facility in Orlando. He added, "The support I received from the team was phenomenal. Young players couldn't find a better place to start their arena football careers."
Sanders had a banner season in 2004, starting all 16 games of the inaugural season for the Wolves. At the completion of those 16 games he was ranked second in the league with 4,184 yards passing. Sanders was only the 10th player in league history to eclipse 4,000 yards in a season. He led the team in rushing (129) and was second in the af2 in rushing touchdowns (18). Sanders also leaves the Wolves as the owner of seven team passing records, four career marks and three single game totals.
Career Records
· Most touchdown passes (66)
· Passing yards (4,184)
· Completions (314)
· Attempts (536)
Single Game Records
· Most touchdown passes (7)
· Passing yards (396)
· Completions (26)
"Chris did a great job for us in our first year, both on and off the field," noted General Manager, Angelo Mazzella. Mazzella went on to say, "He deserves this opportunity and the entire organization wishes him well as he moves on to the AFL."
