Manchester Wolves News Release

The arenafootball2 league office announced that the Manchester Wolves professional af2 team has been assigned WR/DB David Bailey for the 2007 season.

Bailey (5-8, 170), will come back for his third season with the Wolves after playing in 15 games the last two seasons. The speedy wide receiver/defensive back was primed for a breakout season last year before suffering a season-ending injury to his hand. The Yonkers, N.Y. native caught 57 balls for 581 yards and five touchdowns in just 10 games offensively, while collecting 18.5 total tackles, one interception, and one forced fumble on defense. Bailey joined the team late in 2005, catching 14 passes for 184 yards and five touchdowns in just five games after graduating from the University of New Hampshire. As a collegian, Bailey was a four-year letter winner at UNH as both a wide receiver and kick returner, earning first-team A-10 All-Conference honors as a return specialist in 2003.

"He might be the fastest player in the league," said Wolves Head Coach Bennett on Bailey. "Last season he was just hitting his stride and was on the verge of breaking out, before his surgery."

Currently, Bailey has also made a big impact off the field with Manchester Memorial High School students. The now full-time Queen City resident is not only a familiar face in the classrooms as a teacher's assistant, but can also be seen on the sidelines when he pulls double duty as an assistant coach with their football and basketball programs.

"His energy and enthusiasm towards the kids, the school's athletic programs and the school in general is unprecedented." said Keith Bike, who is both the head coach of the boy's varsity basketball program and Bailey's colleague as a teacher at Memorial. "He's always willing to help lend a hand, whether it's with the freshman or junior varsity kids or even the indoor track team. He's very dedicated, and his impact has been very positive for the whole school."
