Manchester Wolves News Release
The Manchester Wolves second game of the season started out looking very similar to their first game. The Wolves traded touchdowns with the Green Bay Blizzard after a first quarter that saw tenacious defenses holding the opposing offenses out of the end zone. Once the Wolves scored their second touchdown of the evening they never lost the lead and beat the Green Bay Blizzard Verizon Wireless Arena 59-41 in front of a crowd of 7,432 on Saturday night.
The opening drive saw the Blizzard march down the field into the Manchester red zone. Johnny Turman, former af2 Rookie of the Year looked sharp completing several passes until the Manchester defense stopped Green Bay cold in a goal line stand that gave them the ball back on their own one yard line. Green Bay was never out of the game despite the final score. The Blizzard managed to keep within seven points of the Wolves for most of the game.
For the second straight week the Offensive Player of the Game was awarded to Jake Eaton who had a stellar night under center (33-25-0) passing for seven touchdowns and 304 yards. Eaton's favorite target tied for the Ironman of the game. JJ McKelvey caught 12 passes for 99 yards and 4 touchdowns. William Ferguson was the the co-winner of Ironman of the game. Ferguson had 3 catches for 69 yards and a touchdown on offense and picked off Green Bay while playing defense. The ADT Defensive Player of the game for a second week went to Allistair Sebastien. Sebastien picked off Green Bay's Turman a step into the endzone and took it coast to coast for the score and a 20-7 lead.
The Wolves next game is Saturday, April 23rd at the Pepsi Arena in Albany, NY against the Albany Conquest.
