
WMU RHP Jack Huisman Signs with Paints for 2019

CHILLICOTHE, Ohio - The Chillicothe Paints, presented by Adena Health System, have added Western Michigan University right-handed pitcher Jack Huisman to their roster for 2019.
As a freshman at WMU last Spring, Huisman saw action in nine games and appeared five times against Power Five opponents (Purdue, Michigan, Michigan State, Northwestern and Notre Dame). He recorded at least one strikeout in four of his nine appearances and totaled seven strikeouts over his six innings of work.
Last summer, Huisman play for the Lake Erie Monarchs in the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League. He pitched in 10 games (started four) and earned a 1-0 record and 4.26 ERA. The 6-foot-4 right-hander struck out 35 batters in 31 2/3 innings. He saved his best game of the summer for last, when he allowed one run on two hits and struck out 11 over seven innings.
A native of Holland, Mich., Huisman helped his Holland Christian High School team to a state championship in 2016 and was named first-team All-State in 2017. He also played basketball in high school.
The 2019 season is slated to begin in late May, though the Prospect League has not announced the game schedule yet. The Paints enter their 27th season. Since joining the college wood-bat ranks as a charter member of the Prospect League in 2009, the Paints have been a consistent national attendance leader, averaging nearly 2,000 fans per game at venerable VA Memorial Stadium, and no Prospect League team has won more games than the Paints in the league's 10-year existence.
