
Winter League to hold local tryout

United League Baseball (ULB), in conjunction with the ULB Winter League, announced today that a local tryout will be held at Historic Harlingen Field on Saturday January 13th beginning at 9am for all local players with high school or collegiate baseball experience to potentially join the 2007 Texas Winter League.
The registration fee for the try-out will be $65.00 and must be paid in full on the day of the tryout and can be paid with cash, personal check, as well as all major credit cards. If a player is selected to participate in the Winter League their registration fee will go toward their full fee for participation in the 2007 Texas Winter League.
The Winter League season begins on January 19, 2007. Four ball clubs will play in the Winter League, three of which are members of United League Baseball already- Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings (Harlingen), Edinburg Coyotes and Laredo Broncos. The fourth team will represent the city of Brownsville and will be known as the Brownsville Toros.
Each team will play 24 games, all at Harlingen Field, plus a best two-out-of three Winter League Championship Series.
There will be two games daily, except on Sundays, one at 11 AM and the second at 3:30 PM. Friday and Saturday doubleheaders under the schedule change will now have games begin at 3:30 PM and 7:00 PM. Each game will be scheduled for seven innings.

United League Baseball is an independent league of six professional baseball teams located in Texas and Louisiana. The United League is preparing for its second season this summer with teams located in Amarillo, Edinburg, Laredo, Harlingen, and San Angelo, Texas; and Alexandria, Louisiana.
