Winnipeg Sea Bears Statement: Jamie Burns
Published on August 4, 2026 under Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL)
Winnipeg Sea Bears News Release
On behalf of the entire Winnipeg Sea Bears organization, I want to express our deepest sympathy to the Burns and Stingers families on the loss of Jamie Burns. Jamie was the lead owner of the Edmonton Stingers and Chair of the Board of the Canadian Elite Basketball League. Our teams were rivals on the court, but off it Jamie was a tremendous colleague and leader, and what began as a professional relationship grew into a real friendship. He was one of the good guys, and my heart is broken over this loss. May his soul rest in peace. The afterlife has just gained a great rabble rouser.
