Wichita Wings News Release
WICHITA, Kan. - The Wichita Wings of the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) won a game of domination tonight against the Norfolk SharX playing out of Hartman Arena.
The game started quickly with a score by Norfolk Midfielder Cecil Lewis just 1:52 into the first quarter, followed by another SharX goal by Forward Matt Clare at the 10:38 mark. The Wings appeared to be heading to a scoreless first quarter before a quick Kevin Ten Eyck goal (assisted by Alargie Jobe) with just 1:24 left in the quarter to put the Wings down by two.
The second quarter was classic hard fought indoor soccer. The only goal came from Wing Midfielder Jamar Beasley (not his last of the evening), igniting the Wings crowd of 2,750 and bringing the score to a 4-4 tie going into the half.
Beasley's last second goal late in the first half kept him rolling into the third quarter, scoring a quick 2 pointer just :38 seconds into the third and giving Wichita their first lead of the night. Wichita turned the heat on from there as Brian Cushing scored an unassisted goal less than a minute later. Following the Cushing goal was yet another back to back scoring pair to end the quarter-- Victor Quiroz scoring a nifty 3 pointer, and Freddy Moojen, picking up his first goal of the night. Going into the fourth quarter, Wichita led 13-4.
Wichita put the icing on the cake in the fourth quarter, including another Freddy Moojen goal, his second for the night, and one final goal by Wings Midfielder Bryan Perez to give the Wings a final winning score of 17-4.
Post game, Wings Midfielder Jamar Beasley spoke about the game. "Every day this team gets stronger and stronger. There are always aspects we can improve upon, but this team has begun to hit its stride." In Wichita's double header weekend, the Wings outscored their opponents 37-4, 10 coming for Jamar Beasley who is currently leading the league with 36 points. Tonight's win put the Wings on a 3-0 streak at home.
The Wings will have two weeks off before returning to action on December 16, playing the Milwaukee Wave in Milwaukee, followed by a December 28 game in Missouri against the Comets.
The Wings will return home to Hartman Arena on December 30 to take on the Missouri Comets.
