Wichita Wings News Release
Wichita, KS. - The Wichita Wings of the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) officially opened training camp today for the upcoming 2011-2012 season. The team, which kicks-off the league home opener on November 3rd at Hartman Arena against the Missouri Comets, is in full force preparing for the upcoming season.
13 signed players, as well as 20 non-singed players who have been invited into training camp, will practice 5-6 days a week- twice a day, leading up to the home opener. "Although all of the men coming in are fit, they need to be battle ready in just over two weeks." Says Wings Strength and Conditioning coach Todd Stranghoner "We're going to hit them hard, and be over-prepared both physically and mentally for the upcoming season."
Along with five local players; Brian Cushing, Casey Barton, Chris Lemons, Jamie Harding, and Larry Inlow, as well as previously announced National and International players Carlos "Chile" Farias, Bryan Perez, Daniel Villegas, Frederico Moojen, Sanaldo Carvalho, and Victor "Omar" Quiroz, the Wings open camp with the addition of standout Defender Tijani Ayebusi, and Midfielder Jamar Beasley.
Tijani Ayebusi, a Nigerian native and member of the Olympic team with the Nigeria National under-23 Men's soccer team in 2004, has no small record of accolades to his name. In his career, Tijani has won the F.A. Bronze Medal with 35C of Ibadam and Sunshine C.C. of Akure, played a key role in helping win the Nigeria League Championship with Kwara United and Julius Berger FC, and was named to the second All0-Star Team while playing for the Rockford Rampage. Tijani has also spent time playing with the Chicago Storm, and Milwaukee Wave, both of the MISL.
Jamar Beasley joins the Wings after a previous standout season with the Missouri Comets, where he scored 54 points, and tied for 3rd in the MISL total goals category with 20. Beasley has also spent time with the New England Revolution via the Major League Soccer's Project-40 program, the Kansas City Wizards (MLS), and indoor teams including Detroit, Rockford, and St. Lewis.
"With the 13 players we now have signed, competition for the final five spots should be intense." Wings General Manager John Blazek also adds "(Head Coach) LeBaron Hollimon has done an outstanding job building an unordinary expansion team... these men will be ready to compete in the league from the get-go."
With the home opener of the league now 17 days away, "The Boy's Are Back!" and in full force. Season and single tickets are still available, call (316) 927-3999 for more information.
