Wichita Wings News Release
WICHITA, Kan. - The Wichita Wings of the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) fell to 0-4 on the season with a loss tonight against the 2010-2011 MISL runner-up, Baltimore Blast. Final score of the game was (12-6). The Game was played in front of over 4,000 fans- a near sellout crowd at Hartman Arena.
Baltimore took an early 4 point lead, including an opening goal by Blast Defender Ptah Meyers 3:21 into the first quarter and goal by Carlos Garcia late in the first.
Wings Forward Jamar Beasley struck first and fast for the Wings, scoring two quick goals early in the second quarter to tie up the game at 4 apiece, but Adauto Neto responded quickly with a long goal behind the three point line putting Baltimore ahead 7-4. Another 3 pointer was scored by Pat Healey with 1:31 to play in the second quarter- putting Baltimore up 10-4 at halftime.
Even with defensive adjustments made by the Wings at halftime, the Wings were unable to capitalize on scoring opportunities in the third quarter. Late in the third quarter Blast Forward Max Ferdinand slid one past Wings Goal keeper Sanaldo Carvalho, putting Baltimore up 12-4.
Early in the fourth quarter Wings Forward Carlos "Chile" Farias pulled one back scoring a sensational goal against Blast's Goal Keeper Sagu, however the late surge of the Wings all star appeared to be too little too late.
With just under 3 minutes to go, the Wings pulled their Goalkeeper to insert their sixth man attacker Victor Quiroz but ultimately it wasn't enough. The Wings failed to score for the remainder of the game, making the final score 12-6.
Post game, Wings Defender Larry Inlow spoke briefly about the game and the start of the season. "This team has great potential, but as players, we all need to continue plugging away and doing our jobs. If we continue to believe in our coaching and each other, it will come together- it's just a matter of time."
