Wings Fade Late to Blast

Wichita, KS- In what looked to be an upset by the Wichita Wings (7-14) through the majority of the match, the Baltimore Blast (18-5) would rally late in the fourth quarter to take a 17-11 victory. Ptah Myers would lead the Blast in their comeback efforts by contributing a hat trick on the night.

Freddy Moojen came up big for the Wings in the first quarter with two of the three goals recorded. He scored his first goal of the night early to give Wichita a 2-0 advantage over Baltimore. Miguel Ferrer extended the Wings' lead with a three-point goal and in a right footed strike Moojen hit his second goal of the night to complete a 7-0 run, leaving Baltimore scoreless at the finish of the first quarter.

The Blast came back big in the second quarter, scoring three goals in a row to put themselves right back into the match. Ptah Myers started off the run to open the second quarter with a two point goal and was continued by Max Ferdinand to bring the Blast back in the game with a second goal. Lucas Roque hit the third goal for the Blast to cut the Wings lead to a single point with a 7-6 lead by halftime.

Baltimore opened the third quarter with what was originally recorded as a goal, but was overturned allowing the Wings to cling to their one point lead. Ferrer and Moojen paired up again to answer back late in the period with an assist and a goal respectively to complete Moojen's hat trick and provide the Wings with a 9-6 advantage.

Adrian Gonzalez hit a huge goal partway through the fourth quarter off an assist from Kareem Yearwood to extend Wichita's lead with a significant five-point advantage. J.T Noone and Ptah Myers responded by hitting two quick goals for Baltimore with about five minutes left in regulation to cut the Wings lead 11-10. Then Lucio Gonzaga struck for a three-point goal to overtake the Wings with a 13-11 lead with just three minutes to play. With the sixth attacker in, Myers hit his third and final goal of the night which was followed by Ferdinand on a penalty shot to rally the Blast past the Wings in a final score, 17-11.

The Wings will round out their season with five road games, including a trip to Baltimore on February 16 with a kick-off time 8:35 p.m. (EST).
