Published on July 30, 2008 under arenafootball2 (af2) News Release

CHICAGO - Central Valley wide receiver/defensive back JOMO WILSON, Quad City quarterback J.J. RATERINK and Florida defensive back CARLOS CAMPBELL have been named the JLS Ironman, Schutt Offensive Player and ADT Defensive Player of the Week, respectively, for Week 18 of the 2008 season. In addition to these three awards, the Cutters Catch of the Week Award for Week 18 goes to South Georgia wide receiver BUCHIE IBEH.

JLS IRONMAN OF THE WEEK

Wilson (6-0, 205, Eastern Oregon) had an impressive all-around effort for Central Valley in the team's, 71-64, Week 18 home victory against West Division rival Tri-Cities. The second-year player from Eastern Oregon made an impact on offense and was special on special teams to help the Coyotes earn their 10th win of the year and secure the No. 5 seed in the National Conference for the 2008 ArenaCup playoffs. Wilson caught five passes for 69 yards and two touchdowns on offense. He also had four kickoff returns for 179 yards (44.8 yards per return), two of which he ran back for scores. Wilson had a 58-yard return TD late in the second quarter and added a 54-yard return TD early in the third quarter. He finished the year as the league leader in kickoff return touchdowns with seven. Wilson also registered one tackle on defense against the Fever. This is the first af2 weekly honor of his career. Wilson led Central Valley in all-purpose yards (2,582) and kickoff return yards (1,805) and tied for second overall in total touchdowns with 21 (12 - receiving, 7 - kickoff return, 1 - interception return, 1 - fumble return). He also recorded 18.5 tackles on defense with one interception, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.

SCHUTT OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Raterink (6-2, 210, Wyoming), now in his third af2 season, had a stellar individual effort for Quad City to help the Steamwheelers to an 81-79, playoff-clinching home win against Lexington. The Wyoming alum completed 25-of-29 passes (86.2 percent) for 344 yards and a team-record 10 touchdowns (tied a 2008 af2 single-game high) without an interception. He also rushed for two touchdowns to finish with 12 total touchdowns (2008 af2 single-game high). This is Raterink's second Offensive Player of the Week honor of the season and third of his career. In addition to this week's award, he was also honored earlier in the year (Week 10) and in 2006 (Week 9) as a member of the Bossier-Shreveport BattleWings. Raterink led the af2 in touchdown passes (97 - Quad City single-season record) and passing yards (4,415).

ADT DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Campbell (5-11, 195, Notre Dame) was a difference maker on defense to help Florida dominate division rival Daytona Beach, 87-27. The second-year player from Notre Dame had an outstanding individual showing with five total tackles (3 solo, 4 asst), one fumble recovery, three pass breakups and two interceptions. Campbell returned his second interception of the night 51 yards for a Firecats touchdown. This is his second Defensive Player of the Week Award of the season. Campbell led Florida in interceptions (9 - 3 INT return TDs) and pass breakups (14), tied for the team lead in fumble recoveries (3) and finished second in total tackles with 53.5. His efforts on defense helped the Firecats secure the No. 5 seed in the American Conference for the 2008 ArenaCup playoffs.

CUTTERS CATCH OF THE WEEK

Ibeh (6-3, 215, Temple) is the Week 18 recipient of the Cutters Catch of the Week Award, a weekly honor that emerged in 2006 to highlight the player who makes the best catch of the week. Ibeh's catch was a leaping 21-yard touchdown grab off a pass from QB Andrico Hines as time expired in the second quarter of South Georgia's 54-50 road win against Tennessee Valley. The third-year player from Temple, who finished with 12 catches for 106 yards and four touchdowns, had his best outing of the season to help the Wildcats clinch their first South Division title. Ibeh finished the 2008 campaign tied for the team lead in pass receptions with 92 and ranked third in receiving yards (914) and receiving touchdowns (18).
