
Wildcats Split Series With Bandits

The Wildcats played two games this weekend against the St. Louis Bandits and were able to split the series 1-1. The Cats came away with a win on Friday night defeating the Bandits 3-1. In the game on Saturday the Cats were unable to defeat the Bandits with a final score of 7-2 in the contest. After the weekend series, the Cats remain in fifth place in the NAHL South Division.
The Wildcats showed up with a lot of intensity on Friday night against the Bandits winning the contest 3-1. Neither team was able to connect on a goal in the first period. Kyle Pidde put up the first score of the game giving the Wildcats a 1-0 at the 13:58 mark of the second period. The lone goal of the period was assisted by Adam Cardwell. The Bandits were then able to hit a goal near the beginning of the third period to knot the game up at 1-1. The Cats answered back quickly when Kyle Matson connected on a goal at the 2:36 mark. He was assisted on the play by Ville Aman and Brett Morrell. Mike Schumacher was then able to hit another goal which was assisted by Ricky Doriott at the 3:31 mark. Wildcats goaltender Cal Heeter came up big in the game stopping 32 shots and only letting one slide past to help give the Cats the 3-1 victory.
After an impressive win on Friday night, the Cats were unable to come away with a win on Saturday night losing the contest to the Bandits 7-2. The Cats were unable to get on the board in the first or second period and went into the final frame trailing the Bandits 4-0. The Cats didn't stop fighting, however, as they connected on two goals in the final period of play. Kyle Matson hit the first Cats goal of the period at the 16:19 mark and was assisted on the score by Adam Krefski. Adam Krefski would then come up with another assist hooking up with Adam Cardwell on a goal as the game winded down at the 18:21 mark.
The Wildcats will be at home again this week for one game on Thursday, February 8th as they face the Springfield Jr. Blues. The game will begin at 7:05pm.
