Wichita Falls Wildcats News Release

WICHITA FALLS, Texas - Following the completion of a successful 2014 Main Camp, the Wichita Falls Wildcats are pleased to announce that main camp will return to Wichita Falls and the Kay Yeager Coliseum in 2015.

"We are thrilled to bring camp back to Wichita Falls," Wildcats Head Coach John LaFontaine said. "We feel bringing camp back home to the KYC will create additional excitement among attending players and their families."

Lindsay Greer, Director of the Wichita Falls Convention and Visitors Bureau, echoed LaFontaine's sentiments.

"We are excited that Wildcats Main Camp is returning to Wichita Falls next summer," Greer said. "It is always beneficial when we can welcome these players, families and coaches into our city, and gain the benefits of hosting camp in our own backyard. We look forward to making their experience here in Wichita Falls a great one."

When camp begins next summer, it will mark the first time since 2010 that the Wildcats will have hosted their annual main camp at the Kay Yeager Coliseum. By returning main camp to Wichita Falls, recruits will gain an in-depth understanding of the entire organization and the city.

"It's an opportunity to showcase every aspect of the team," said LaFontaine. "It is a chance to sell the program, the arena and facilities, and of course, the city of Wichita Falls. We want all players who attend main camp to think to themselves 'I want to play for that team, I want to be a part of that community,' when they leave camp."

Greer also noted the potential economic benefits stemming from hosting main camp in Wichita Falls.

"Between players, families and coaches, we estimate that the camp could have upwards of a $200,000 economic impact on city hotels and restaurants," she said.

In conjunction with next summer's main camp, the Wildcats will also be hosting a youth hockey camp prior to the start of main camp, giving area youth players a chance to hone their skills under the direction of Wildcats players and coaches.

"It is great that main camp is coming back to Wichita Falls," said Cory Glassburn, President of the Texoma Youth Hockey Association. "With plans in the works for a youth camp prior to main camp, this is a move that will benefit hockey at the youth level too."

Wildcats Main Camp represents the team's final tryout camp each summer, with players competing to earn an invitation to training camp at the start of the season.

Season tickets for the 2014-15 season are on sale now. Call the Wildcats office at (940) 716-5587 for details, or visit www.wfwildcatshockey.com for seating and pricing information.
