Wichita Falls Wildcats News Release
The Wildcats played the Fairbanks Ice Dogs on Saturday, February 18 and following the game held their annual Children's Miracle Network "Jersey Off Our Back" auction. Wildcats fans opened up their hearts, and wallets, and raised an amazing $54,500 by purchasing the jersey of their favorite Wildcats player. All of the money raised goes to the CMN, which is used to purchase the medical equipment they need to save the lives of sick children in Texoma.
The $54,500 was a record for the Wildcats, as they raised $15,000 more this year than the previous auction! The biggest and brightest moment of the evening came when goaltender, Tom "Choo Choo" Billick, stepped to center ice to auction off his jersey. After almost 20 minutes of intense betting, Billick's jersey sold for an astonishing and record breaking $10,000. Other top selling jerseys were those of Captain Kyle Kraemer's at $2500, Dan Sexton's at $2200, and Dan Medenwaldt's at $2100.
The Wildcats and the Children's Miracle Network both won on Saturday night thanks to the remarkable support of their fans and the community of Wichita Falls. The Wildcats would like to thank the CMN for their constant dedication to improving the lives of the children in Texoma, and to all those who participated in the auction, your generosity will not be forgotten.
