Wildcats Acquire Offensive Players to Make a Playoff Run

Wichita Falls Wildcats News Release
The Wichita Falls Wildcats coaching staff were up late and working hard trying to get a couple of players by the trade deadline Wednesday night. The USA trade deadline for the league ended at midnight on February 6. According to Head Coach John Bowkus, the Wildcats were able to obtain the rights of two former USHL forwards and one NAHL defenseman. The Wildcats were looking to acquire some offensive players to make a push and better themselves for the Playoff run.
The defenseman is Kent Detlefsen from the Alaska Avalanche. Kent is the top scoring defenseman in the league and the coaching staff is hoping that by having him in the lineup, he will solidify their defensive core. "Kent adds another dimension to our defense. We have a great defensive core already and with his offensive flare, we should be able to create a little more offense from the back side."
The forwards are Mike Henderson of the Ohio Blue Jackets and Kyle Delaurell of the Lincoln Stars, both of the USHL. Bowkus says "both forwards can put the puck in the net and hopes that their presence will relieve some of the pressure put on the Wildcats trio of Cardwell, Salazar and Everett. When there is another line putting up goals, most teams will have a hard time covering more than one line of scoring."
All three players should be available to play this weekend when the Wildcats host the Kenai River Brown Bears at Kay Yeager Coliseum on both Friday, February 8 and Saturday, February 9. Puck drops at 7:05pm! Friday is Kids T-Shirt Night, courtesy of Perkins Custom Doors *limited supply available and Saturday is our annual Children's Miracle Network "Jersey Off Our Back" Auction.
