HEAD COACHES
Daytona Beach: Leon Bright (1st year, 0-2). Former high school All-American at Merritt Island High School who went to play at pre-Bobby Bowden Florida State, then a stellar CFL career with the British Columbia Lions before moving to the NFL with the New York Giants and Tampa Bay Bucs. He is the Director of the Chisholm Community Center in DeLand, and active in the area football community.
Osceola: Marquette Smith (2nd year 9-8, 3rd overall, 11-17) High school and college Hall of Fame inductee, Smith was the 1991 Gatorade National Football Player of the Year. Played college ball at FSU and UCF and was a fifth round pick of the Carolina Panthers. The well-traveled Smith has played or coached in six leagues.

LIONS 34, GHOSTRIDERS 31: Gene Davis kicked a 34-yard field goal with 5.3 seconds remaining as the Columbus Lions defeated the Osceola Ghostriders 34-31 in a World Indoor Football League game Saturday, March 10 before 2,467 at AFLAC Field in the Columbus Civic Center. Osceola (1-1) rallied from a 17-3 third quarter deficit to take a 23-17 lead. on Brandon Sumner's 2-yard keeper with 5:06 left. Columbus regained the lead at 24-23 on Andrew McKay's 14-yarder to Jawarski Pollock five minutes later, then increased its lead to 31-23 on linebacker Justin Rivers' second fumble recovery and return for a touchdown with 1:15 left. The Ghostriders tied it again at 31-31 on Sumner's 23-yarder to Luther Huggins and a Sumner two-pointer with 25 seconds to play. Terrence Buntting rushed for 59 yards and two touchdowns for the Ghostriders. Sumner had 131 yards and one touchdown pass, with James Panui posting a game-high seven catches for 70 yards
LIONS 45, THUNDER 42. Andrew McKay's 11-yard touchdown pass to Damian Daniels with 27 seconds left gave the Columbus Lions a 45-42 victory over the Daytona Beach Thunder in a World Indoor Football League game before 1,447 at DBCC Public Broadcasting Field 15 at the Ocean Center on Feb. 26 The Thunder had a chance to tie it at the buzzer, but Carlos Ojdea's field goal attempt was blocked. Daytona Beach had taken a 42-37 lead on Bo Bartik's 20-yarder to Cory McKinney with 3:09 left. McKay overcame four interceptions to finish with 178 yards and five touchdowns. Bartik had 260 yards and five touchdowns, four to McKinney
NOTES: This is Daytona Beach's first game since the death of Javan Camon on Feb. 26 ... the league has issued a commemorative patch for all four teams to wear ... The Thunder had two veteran players - Tommy Moody and Joe Giddens - retired, but have since regained the services of defensive back Nick Allison, who was in the Orlando Predators' pre-season camp and veteran indoor receiver Robert Bailey ... This is the first meeting between the two Florida teams, Georgia teams have won three of the four meetings; Columbus and Augusta meet in the first all-Georgia battle March 24 ... Three of the four WIFL games have been decided by three points or less ... the average margin of victory so far in the WIFL is 5.7 points a game ... Both Bright and Smith spent time at Florida State, but Bright played BB (Before Bowden) ... Columbus is leading in the coveted "style point" race after two games.
