
Wichita Wild vs. Bloomington Edge June 2nd Game Preview

WICHITA, KS - The Wichita Wild of the Indoor Football League (IFL) will welcome the Bloomington Edge to Hartman Arena this Saturday, June 2nd; Kickoff is scheduled for 7:05pm (CST). This is the first matchup between the two teams this season.
Entering the game as one of the hottest teams in the IFL, Wichita will be fighting for their lives in a game that will have huge implications for the Wild regarding potential post-season play. Wichita (6-5) sits in third place of the Intense Conference, currently tied with the Allen Wranglers. The Wild's remaining three games this season will determine whether the team faces a top-seed on the road, host a home playoff game, or altogether makes the playoffs. The road to playoffs will not be easy for the Wild, facing a quality Bloomington Edge team this Saturday night, the Wild will then hit the road for their final two regular season games, facing-off with the New Mexico Stars (2-9) and Green Bay Blizzard (8-3).
Wichita currently has a 4 game win streak and has won 6 of the last 7 games. Wichita is coming off a road victory against the Allen Wranglers last Saturday night, winning 59-41 in the team's second consecutive win over the Wranglers. The Wild defense shut down the Wrangler's offense continuously throughout the game. Wichita's defensive back Kendrick Harper recorded 2 interceptions, 4 tackles, and 1 fumble recovery, good enough to for Week 14 IFL Defensive Player of the Week recognitions. Along with Harper, the Wild defensive backfield held the Wranglers to only 36 total reception yards.
Bloomington (9-3) is coming off a 62-43 victory over the Chicago Slaughter. With the win, Bloomington holds the second place spot in the United Conference and has clinched a playoff berth. Bloomington is led by quarterback Dusty Burk who completed 22 of 30 passes, throwing for 268 yards with 7 touchdowns in the teams win over Chicago. Saturday night's game is exceedingly important for Bloomington as Green Bay trails them by a half game for second place in the United Conference.

Burk is completing 61% of his passes for 46 touchdowns and 15 interceptions. The Wild defense is giving up 238.9 yards per game, 185.7 of those coming through the air. Even with IFL Defensive Player of the Week Kendrick Harper, the Wild defense must continue their stellar performances over the past 4 weeks to keep the Edge out of the end zone. The Wild will rely heavily on their defense to slow down the high-powered Edge offense.
