May 19, 2016 - Champions Indoor Football (CIF)
Wichita Force News Release
WICHITA, Kan. - In Week No. 13 of regular season play, the Force will take on the Amarillo Venom (6-3) in the team's final road game of the 2016 regular season.
Wichita's 23-19 win over the Sioux City Bandits was fueled by the team's defense and stellar first half performance by RB Julian Hayes.
LB Jason Catchings led the team in tackles totaling seven including three solo with an additional three tackles for loss. He also had a blocked field goal attempt that bounced into the end zone and out of bounds that was ruled a safety.
With last week's win over the Bandits, the team jumped to the No. 1 spot of the Northern Division of the Champions Indoor Football league. Another win with week will secure a home playoff spot for the Force. If the team finishes the season its current position, the team will earn a bye in the first week of post-season play.
The Venom holds the No.2 slot of the Southern Division as well as the No. 2 spot for scoring offense in the CIF, with Wichita trailing right behind.
Last week, the Venom brought down the Duke City Gladiators in a one-sided 48-27 win in Amarillo. The two squads battled neck-and-neck but the Venom pulled away early in the fourth and made it an unlikely contest.
