Wichita Falls Wildcats News Release

Happy New Year, and welcome to the Wichita Falls Wildcats Newsletter, your source for Wildcat news and information!

The Wildcats have completed the first half of the season ending on a high note, and are looking forward to continued improvement in the year 2005. Currently the Wildcats are in sixth place of the NAHL south division, but the Cats are only 5 points behind the 4th place Springfield Junior Blues. In the NAHL a team has to finish in the top 4 of its division in order to make the playoffs. The Wildcats are still in the playoff picture and will need the support of their die hard fans down the stretch in order to compete for a spot in the playoffs.

The Cats played inconsistently throughout the month of December. They started the month off with two disappointing home losses, before going on the road and defeating the second place Texarkana Bandits and winning at home against the Santa Fe Roadrunners. After those impressive back to back wins the Wildcats lost two straight before again defeating the Santa Fe Roadrunners, this time in Santa Fe. The Cats rounded out the month losing a heartbreaker to the Springfield Spirit in front of 2442 fans who showed up for the United Regional Healthcare Teddy Bear Toss Night.

The Teddy Bear Toss Night was a success with the Wildcats collecting over 1,000 teddy bears and stuffed animals and donating them to the pediatric wing of the United Regional Hospital.

Kyle Kraemer was named Sherwood NAHL Offensive Player of the Week for his six point performance the weekend of December 10th through the 12th. Kraemer scored 5 goals and added 1 assist in a three game span. He is the third Wildcat player to be named Sherwood NAHL player of the week. Brent Sarcone and Peter Zamkochyan each have won the award previously for the Wildcats.

Brent Sarcone and Kevin Huck lead the Wildcats in scoring through the first half of the season with 35 points each. Sarcone has 16 goals and 19 assists, while Huck has scored 11 goals and added 24 assists. These players are tied for 12th in the entire NAHL in total points scored. Kyle Kraemer, the Wildcats third leading scorer, who has netted 31 points, is currently 23rd in the NAHL in total points, and 7th in the league in goals scored with 17. Sarcone is 9th in the league with his 16 goals and 18th in the league with 19 assists. Huck is 5th in the league with his 24 assists.

The Wildcats will be hosting a military appreciation night Saturday, January 29th at 7:00pm. The team would like to invite all military personnel to attend the game free of charge with a valid military I.D. The Wildcats support our troops and wish to thank them for all that they do for our country by offering them free admission for the game Saturday, January 29th vs. the Springfield Junior Blues.

The Wildcats host four home games this month. The Cats play the Springfield Spirit Friday, January 21st at 7:00pm, and Saturday January 22nd at 7:00pm. They take on the Springfield Junior Blues on Friday, January 28th at 7:00pm and Saturday, January 29th at 7:00pm. The Wildcats look to gain some points in the standings and move up in the playoff picture, but in order for them to do so they will need the help of the loudest and rowdiest fans in the NAHL! Let's go Wildcats!!!
