Wichita Wings News Release
Wichita, KS-The Wichita Wings (6-12) dropped another close match in the second half of their double header to the Chicago Soul (8-11) Saturday night in Hartman Arena. The start of the match was a back and forth battle between the clubs, until the Soul took a 15-6 lead going into halftime and never let go to secure their second victory over the Wings this season.
Freddy Moojen scored the first goal of the night for the Wings off an assist from Victor Quiroz to put the Wings on top 2-0. Eric Lukin answered back with a goal of his own for Chicago to even the score. Moojen scored his second goal of the night off a nice feed from Dre Berenzon to give the Wings the lead again. With less than five seconds to go in the first quarter, Carloz Munoz hit the equalizer for the Soul to leave the game tied at 4 apiece going into the second quarter.
Bato Radoncic continued the streak for Chicago with a goal in the second quarter to give the Soul a 6-4 advantage early on. Daniel Villegas answered back for the Wings off a quick counter attack with a calm finish off an assist from Freddy Moojen to leave the score 6-6. Carlos Munoz and Chile hit two goals in a row to give the Soul a quick five-point advantage. Radoncic would continue the streak with two back-to-back goals to finish his hat trick and extend Chicago's lead to 15-6 over Wichita by halftime.
The third quarter was a defensive battle for both clubs. The lone goal in the third quarter came courtesy of Kevin Ten Eyck who scored off the assist from Dre Berenzon to bring the score, 15-8 Soul. Early in the fourth quarter, Moojen attempted to build on Ten Eyck's goal with the completion of his hat trick off an assist from Tiguinho to bring Wichita within five points of Chicago. With just under five minutes to play, Ten Eyck kept the Wings going with another goal, cutting the Soul's lead to three. However, the Wings would be unable to cash in on any other scoring opportunities before time expired, handing the Soul a lean 15-12 victory.
