Wichita Wings News Release

WICHITA, Kan. -The Wichita Wings have officially acquired midfielder Andre Berenzon and forward Matt Clare from the Syracuse Silver Knights in exchange for Wings midfielders Jamar Beasley and Bryan Perez per league approval. Both Wichita (1-4) and Syracuse (1-5) sit at the bottom of MISL standings and are hopeful the change will yield positive results for both clubs.

Andre Berenzon, a native of San Paolo, Brazil, started his professional soccer career at the age of 17 with Parana Clube. Berenzon first began his career with the MISL in 2008 as a midfielder for the Rockford Rampage. In two seasons with the club, Berenzon managed to achieve an All-Rookie Team honor and helped earn the team a spot in the league championship game. After his time with the Rampage, Berenzon played for the Chicago Riot and one year later, signed with the Syracuse Silver Knights. Last year, Berenzon scored a total of 20 goals over the course of five games for the Knights before his season was ended by injury.

Matt Clare, the second addition to the Wings roster, originally from Ft. Lauterdale, comes to the Wings with a history in the MISL and North American Soccer League. Clare played for his first professional team with FC Tampa Bay in the NASL before signing with the Norfolk Sharx for the 2011-2012 season, where he led the team in scoring with 20 goals totaling 48 points. In 2012, Clare helped the Tampa Bay Rowdies earn an NASL championship before beginning his season with Syracuse. In the Wichita's first match against Syracuse, Clare played a key role in sending the game to overtime by scoring two of the Silver Knights' three goals for the evening. Clare joins Wings players Andrew Hoxie and Geison in the Top 20 point scorers for the MISL, with 11 points on the season so far.

"We are really excited about the addition of Matt and Andre. They're both quality players, and players that can help the team turn things around to head in the right direction," Wichita Wings Head Coach, LeBaron Hollimon said. "We hate losing guys like Perez and Beasley, but we're confident that their replacements will allow us to achieve the goals we have set out to accomplish for the year."

The Wings will set out to gain another win with a three game away stretch on the east coast beginning with Baltimore on December 7 at 7:35 p.m. (EST).
