The Whitecaps also announced today that goalkeeper Mike Franks has been released by the club.
"Mike has been a big part of the organization for the past three years and I would like to thank him for his contributions to the club on and off the field," said Lenarduzzi. "Currently Mike is weighing his options whether to continue his career with another club or explore other opportunities outside the game. At this time the Whitecaps are looking for another goalkeeper to complement Josh Wicks."
Franks played 60 games for the Whitecaps from 1997-1998 and 2003-2005.
