Whitecaps Men Tame Mustangs

Vancouver Whitecaps News Release
The Whitecaps downed the visiting Calgary Mustangs 3-1 on the strength of the two goals by Oliver Heald and a spectacular overhead winner by Carlo Corazzin.
With the win Vancouver remains in second place in the Western Conference, with a 2-0-1 record for 7 points. The Portland Timbers, who were 1-0 winners tonight in Seattle, are in first place with 9 points.
The Caps and Mustangs play again in Calgary on Saturday, May 22. The Whitecaps' next home game is a Men's and Women's doubleheader on Sunday May 23. At 4:00pm the Women take on the Edmonton Aviators, followed by the Whitecaps Men against Portland at 7:00pm.
The Whitecaps Youth are in action with the Boys Home Opener vs. FC United Sunday May 16 at Burnaby Lake West. U13 Boys 1:30, U14 Boys 2:30, U15 Boys 3:30.

Game Notes
Jason Jordan left the game after twenty minutes with a hamstring injury.
Corazzin had a great chance to score at 23' after he did superbly to control the ball in the box, but the keeper blocked his point-blank effort.
The Whitecaps outshot Calgary 14-3.
Vancouver is undefeated against Calgary all-time with a record of 9-0-2.
The Caps are on an 18-game undefeated streak going back to last season.

37' Vanc Oliver Heald (Dave Morris) A driven cross from Morris on the right was headed by a charging Heald, who put it just inside the right post.
68' Vanc Carlo Corazzin (Martin Nash) Corazzin's acrobatic overhead kick found the bottom corner after a great cross from Nash.
71' Calg Mesut Mert (Zdravko Savi) Mert picked up the ball in space in the box and fired it low past Mike Franks.
74' Vanc Oliver Heald (PK) Heald scored his second of the game and season on a penalty kick, awarded after Davide Xausa was taken down by goalkeeper Lutz Pfannenstiel while on a breakaway.
