Where Are They Now? Jared VanWormer

If there was ever a Soo Eagles player that created his own breaks, and paved his own path to NCAA Division I College Hockey, it was former Soo Eagles captain, Jared VanWormer.

Before playing for the Soo Eagles during the 2012-12 season, Jared played for Traverse City Central High School for four seasons (2006-2010. For the 2008-2009 season he was a part of the Record-Eagle All Region Dream Team . Jared played three years (2010-2013) for the Traverse City North Stars in the NAHL where he logged 119 games. In his time with the North Stars he scored 33 goals and 34 assists.

Jared was uncommitted to any college or university, when the North Stars became the Soo Eagles, and he moved north with the team. He had his best season during the 2012-2013 season for the Soo Eagles in the NAHL. He tallied 76 total points for the Eagles with 25 goals and 51 assists. VanWormer also won Forward of the year for the 2012-13 season, he earned the NAHL's Most Valuable Player Award, earned a spot on the All NAHL team and first team NAHL All North Division, while leading the NAHL in points (76) and assists (51).

During that season the Ferris State Bulldogs, now in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association took a look at Jared and wanted his for their team, where he is currently a freshman, and majoring in business. It is safe to say that Jared's hard work, skill and determination, will create more breaks of his own, this season, and seasons to come.
