West Virginia Wild Pre-Season Camp Opens Saturday

February 5, 2009 - Continental Indoor Football League (CIFL)
West Virginia Wild News Release

The West Virginia Wild begin their inaugural preseason camp this Saturday, February 7, 2009 at 9am at the Teays Physical Therapy Center Performance Plus facility in Hurricane. Players hoping to make the Wild for this season have come from as far away as California, Florida, Texas and Georgia. This culled with the players signed during the teams open tryouts over the past two weekends in January and this promises to be a highly competitive camp. With the suspension of operations by the AFL and folding of other indoor football leagues roster spots now come at a premium.

Wild Head Coach Michael Owens is looking forward to find out what he has in the way of talent on the field this weekend, "I can't wait to see how we mesh and I know for a fact that a few of our players can't wait to get out there and hit someone."

With the season opener February 27th, time is of the essence. While some teams in the CIFL have already been established and played last season the Wild are building this inaugural team from scratch and on an impending deadline.

But Coach Owens knows with some of the indoor veterans he has on his roster getting up to speed won't be a problem, "I know some of these guys, they're professionals and they know what it takes to play this game. It moves at a fast pace and what we need to do is concentrate on executing and getting our timing down. But that's what camp's for."

The West Virginia Wild open their 2009 Inaugural Season Friday, February 27, 2009 against the Marion Mayhem at the Veteran's Memorial Field House in Huntington, WV. Game time is set for 7:30pm. For ticket information call 1-888-807-2154 or go to www.wvwildfootball.com.
