Two more familiar faces will be back on the Island this summer. The City Islanders are happy to announce the return of Steve Fisher and Tim Velten to the 2009 roster, pending USL and USSF approval.

A native of Hershey PA, Fisher will be returning for his sixth season as an Islander. Fisher a graduate of Lehigh University, had an immediate impact on the Islanders' record books when he scored for the club's first-ever goal on May 8, 2004. An important part of the Islanders' roster from its beginning, Fisher will look to continue his success through 2009.

After spending the 2008 season with USL's First Division team Charleston Battery, Tim Velten will return to the Island in 2009. Velten was a key member of the 2007 championship backline. He played in over 1600 minutes and recorded one goal for the Islanders. Before playing in the USL, Velten played for Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, where he started all 39 games of his freshman and sophomore season. Velten then transferred to the University of Louisville, starting in 34 games during his junior and senior season there.

With preseason camp opening on March 16, Fisher and Velten will look to use their experience and talent to help lead the Islanders back to the playoffs in 2009.
