Week Three XFL Power Rankings

by Fran Stuchbury
March 10, 2023 - XFL (XFL)

The XFL completed week three with three home teams earning victories, reversing course from week two when road teams won three of four. The D.C. Defenders edged the St. Louis Battlehawks, the Arlington Renegades narrowly defeated the Orlando Guardians, and the Houston Roughnecks topped the San Antonio Brahmas. The only road team to win was the Seattle Sea Dragons which held off the Vegas Vipers.

Week four starts Saturday with the undefeated Houston Roughnecks at the winless Orlando Guardians and the 1-2 San Antonio Brahmas at the 1-2 Seattle Sea Dragons. On Sunday the 2-1 St. Louis Battlehawks play their first home game against the Arlington Renegades. The winless Vegas Vipers face the undefeated D.C. Defenders.

The Power Rankings after week three:

1. Houston Roughnecks 3-0

The Roughnecks have the most balance on offense and defense. The run-and-shoot offense has been productive early, allowing Houston to build leads. In addition, the defense makes big plays and displayed an impressive goal line stand in their victory over the San Antonio Brahmas.

2. D.C. Defenders 3-0

The Defenders lead the XFL with 449 rushing yards. It helps having two quarterbacks who are capable of running the football. The beer snake returned last week with no issues.

3. St. Louis Battlehawks

After starting the XFL season with three games on the road, the Battlehawks will be happy to finally play at home with over 30,000 fans expected at the game against the Arlington Renegades.

4. Seattle Sea Dragons 1-2

The Sea Dragons played a complete game on offense with 519 total yards in their victory over the Vipers. Defenses are challenged to stop their run-and-shoot offense especially with former NFL Pro Bowl wide receiver Josh Gordon catching passes.

5. San Antonio Brahmas 1-2

Two of the Brahmas losses have been heartbreaking one-score defeats. Quarterback Jack Coan hopes to have a bounce-back performance against Seattle.

6. Arlington Renegades 2-1

In his first start, Kyle Sloter provided accuracy at quarterback, though Arlington still struggled to score. Defensive play has earned the team a pair of wins.

7. Vegas Vipers 0-3

Brett Hundley took over at quarterback for Luis Perez and threw for 224 yards and led the team with 66 yards on the ground. The offense will be challenged this week against a very physical Defenders defense.

8. Orlando Guardians 0-3

In a losing effort the Guardians played tough with only a one-point loss to Renegades. The offense will have to put more points on the board against the high-scoring Houston Roughnecks.
