Washington Heads North for Visit to Albany

LAS VEGAS - The second game of the weekend features the Albany Empire (0-2) hosting the Washington Valor (0-2) on Saturday, May 5 at 7:30 p.m. ET at Times Union Center on CBS Sports Network. The Empire are coming off a close 52-49 loss to the Baltimore Brigade last week, that saw quarterback Tommy Grady and wide receiver Joe Hills connect for four touchdowns. Washington lost last week to Philadelphia 67-51, in the Valor's first road game of the season. The Valor will be without three-time AFL MVP quarterback Nick Davila who had successful surgery to stabilize a neck injury suffered in last week's game and will miss the remainder of the 2018 season. Both teams are looking for their first win of the season.

WHAT TO LOOK FOR:

VALOR: Saturday will be the first game without quarterback Nick Davila. Quarterback Warren Smith played the last drive of last week's game and completed 4-of-5 passes for 37 yards and one touchdown. Wide receiver Rod Windsor is one half of the Valor's dynamic receiving duo. Windsor has hauled in 13 receptions for 138 yards and five touchdowns this season. The other half of the duo is receiver Josh Reese who has caught 15 passes for 161 yards and 4 touchdowns in two games. Defensive Back Dominic Addison leads the Valor with 11.5 total tackles, one pass breakup, and one pass defended.

EMPIRE: Quarterback Tommy Grady in his first two games has completed 47-of-71 passes for 512 yards and 11 touchdowns. Grady has been reconnected with his former teammate in wide receiver Joe Hills. Hills showed how he is one of the top receivers in the game in his Albany debut. The Week 3 Offensive Player of the Week recorded 11 receptions for 108 yards and 4 touchdowns. Defensive back Varmah Sonie leads the Albany defense with 14.0 total tackles, two pass break ups, and two passes defended in two games. Defensive end Joe Sykes has added 4.5 total tackles, 2.5 tackles for a loss, two sacks, and one forced fumble in 2018.
