Warriors and Storm go down to the wire in Cartersville

Cartersville, GA - The home team Cartersville Warriors welcomed the Marietta Storm to town on Saturday, but were less accommodating once the league game began. A hard fought battle between these two in state rivals got going quickly with both teams playing very agressively and taking it at the other team. After one quarter, Cartersville held a one point advantage 36-35. Going into the second quarter the Warriors began to employ a smothering defense triggering transition opportunities and took the quarter 31-22 to lead at the half 67-57. Marietta battled back on the road, narrowing the advantage in the second half of what would eventually come down to a two point game. In the contest, Marietta point guard phenom Daryl "Lil Majic" Dorsey (had 32 points, and 6 assists while shooting guard Anthony Wilkins, himself a member of the Atlanta Hawks to begin the 2005-2006 season, finished with 31.

For the Warriors, 6'2 guard Mike Dean (Middle Tennessee State), led the team again in scoring with 21 points and in all five Warriors finished in double figures with 6'8 Forward Delvin Thomas (Bethune Cookman) 15 points and 12 rebounds. 6'10 Forward Antoine Broxsie (Oklahoma State) finished the game with a great line of 14 points, 14 rebounds, and 6 blocked shots in 23 minutes.
