
Walk-off Homer Defeats Force

Philadelphia Force News Release
July 19, 2007- Fairfax, Va. - Amber Jackson of the Washington Glory (23-7) hit a two-out, walk-off home run in the bottom of the seventh inning to give the Glory a 3-2 win over the Philadelphia Force (13-13). The first-place Glory have taken the first two games of the four-game series.
Jackson's game winner was her ninth homer of the season. She is now leading the league in hitting (.405), RBIs (27), and tied, with teammate Sara Larquier, in home runs.
Sarah Pauly (10-4) picked up the complete game win. She scattered five hits and struck out six. Margo Pruis (3-3) took the hard-luck loss. She yielded six hits and struck out three.
The Force got on the board in the first inning on an unearned run. Second baseman Emily Friedman, who led the Force offense with two hits on the night, scored the first run of the game with the help of a Glory miscue.
In the third, the Glory's Nicole Barber tied the score at one with her first of two RBIs in the game.
Force Jenna Hall later added her third home run of the season, a solo blast in the fourth. She is now tied with Trena Peel for the team high in RBIs at 12.
Entering the seventh inning down 2-1, the Glory tied the score at 2-2 with two outs. This set the stage for Jackson's dramatics.
Chelsea Spencer and Kellie Wilkerson had a hit each for the Force.
The Force and Glory continue their series on Friday night at the George Mason Softball Complex. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. After this series, the Force have stops in New England and Akron, before returning home on Monday, August 6 to face the Rockford Thunder.
