
Volcanoes sign fifth Player

The Vancouver Volcanoes-a second year professional basketball team that plays in the International Basketball League-signed their fifth player for the 2006 season-6' 9" 230 pound forward Jay Van Hook. Jay Van Hook played his college basketball at Lower Columbia Junior College where in his Sophomore year-he averaged 21.8 points per game and 8.9 rebounds but a more impressive 4.3 blocks per game. His Junior and Senior year he played at Central Washington; his senior year he averaged 10.5 points per game, 6.8 rebounds and 2.5 blocks.
"In 2005 Jay played backup center for the Volcanoes but this year we may try him at the four (power forward) and also the three (weak forward)" said Volcanoes Basketball Operations Director Terrance Dickens.
Vancouver opens their season against the Portland Chinooks on Sunday March 12th at 1:30pm at the Rose Garden. This is a home game for the Vancouver Volcanoes.
