Volcanoes sign 6' 10" NBA Prospect

The Vancouver Volcanoes-a second year professional basketball team from the International Basketball League-signed their 6th player for the 2006 season-Power Forward Jason Beau Keep

Senior year at San Diego (2002-03): Led WCC in rebounding at 9.1 rebounds per game and also led the WCC in field goal percentage and ranked second in the conference in scoring at 18.0 per game. Jason Keep recorded nine double-doubles, including a 30-point and 16-rebound effort vs. UCLA. Jason Keep averaged 18.0 points and 10.5 rebounds and shot .577 from the field in the WCC Tournament.

Honors: Runner-up to Gonzaga's Blake Stepp for 2003 West Coast Conference Player of the Year. Earned 2003 WCC Tournament MVP honors. Earned all-tournament honors at the 2003 Portsmouth Invitational Tournament after averaging 16.3 points and shooting 64.3% from the field.

Note: Jason Beau Keep will be playing alongside his former teammate from San Diego Brad Lechtenberg-who also signed with the Vancouver Volcanoes. Brad led the nation in three point percentage while at San Diego.

Jason Keep "It will be great to play a few months close to home". Jason Keep's family (parents and wife) live in Hillsboro Oregon. Jason is currently playing professionally in Argentina.

The Vancouver Volcanoes open their season against the Portland Chinooks on Sunday March 12th at 1:30pm at the Rose Garden in Portland.
