
Veteran DL McCartney Set with Force for 2016

WICHITA, Kan. - The Wichita Force announced today that veteran DL James McCartney has signed to rejoin the Force for 2016.
"I'm excited to get the season on the road and perform for our great fans of Wichita," McCartney commented on the season. "We have expanded our team and added some great new faces to the family and I'm excited for the new competition. This year is a brand building year for Wichita Force football and I'm glad to continue being a part of the Wichita community and ready to bring home another championship."
In 2015, McCartney served as DL in eight games for the Force. In the team's inaugural season, McCartney recorded 29 total tackles, six tackles for loss, and 2.5 sacks.
A Hesston, Kan. native, McCartney attended Bethel College where he earned Defensive Player of the Year during his junior and senior season. Also in his senior year, McCartney was named an NAIA All-American. McCartney began his professional career with the former Wichita Wild in 2010 where he played until the team's fold in 2014. In 2013, McCartney had a stellar season where he earned a spot on the All-CPIFL First Team. In that season, McCartney racked up 40 tackles, 12.5 sacks, four fumble recoveries, one safety and one touchdown. In 2014, he continued his momentum by finishing the season with 46 tackles, 13 tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks.
