Venom to Unveil Throwback Uniforms on June 7
June 2, 2014 - Lone Star Football League (LSFL)
Amarillo Venom News Release
AMARILLO, Texas - Harkening back to their roots, the Amarillo Venom will don a new set of uniforms at the Cal Farley Coliseum against the West Texas Wildcatters on June 7. Calling back on a tradition that began in 2004, the Venom will trade in their red and black for the original orange and black of their spiritual predecessor - the Amarillo Dusters.
Sponsored by Throwbacks Sports Bar as well as part of the Texas Gold Night festivity, the jerseys will don the word "Tradition" on the back. The symbolism behind "Tradition" is the strong seasons enjoyed by the Dusters and Venom franchises, beginning from the Dusters collecting a 2004 Intense Football League championship, stellar campaigns in af2 and the Indoor Football League in 2010 to the Venom capturing the first two LSFL championships.
Another mark of "Tradition" is none other than Head Coach Julian Reese, who had been with both the Dusters and the Venom - as a quarterback and presently as head coach.
On the shoulders, there are stripes that are influenced by the "Under the Lights" uniform that the Michigan Wolverines used in 2011 against Norte Dame. Another touch is an orange A in front of an outline of the state of Texas.
After the game, the jerseys will be held up for auction. The throwbacks will be the second special uniform this season. The Venom aim to use the spirit of tradition to make a strong push for their third consecutive appearance in the LSFL playoffs.
The Amarillo Venom are a proud member of the Lone Star Football League. For more information and tickets, contact the Amarillo Venom office at (806) 350-7277.
