Amarillo Venom News Release

AMARILLO, Texas - After enduring a nightmarish road stretch, the Amarillo Venom (2-2, LSFL) intend to put the past behind them as they return home to host the expansion West Texas Wildcatters (1-3, LSFL) on April 26. The contest will take place at the Cal Farley Coliseum of the Amarillo Civic Center at 7:05 p.m.

Leading the Amarillo Venom in this crucial game will be the wide receiver duo of Raymond Johnson and DJ Beshears. Together, the two receivers kept the Venom in the game last week against New Mexico and have formed a one-two punch for the Amarillo offense. Also aiding the home standing Venom will be fullback Undre Hendrix, who scored on a 28 yard rumble against New Mexico last weekend.

The three offensive players will look to keep the Venom steady against a stout West Texas defensive unit, who forced three sacks and two turnovers against San Angelo.

West Texas, on the other hand, will be led by quarterback Kasey Peters. The quarterback from Rocky Mountain College went 22-of-33 for 242 yards and four touchdowns in their win against the San Angelo Bandits.

Also contributing to the Wildcatter cause is wide receiver Sedrick Johnson, who hauled in 12 receptions for 139 yards and a touchdown. The former Iowa State Cyclone and former Washington Redskin Dennis Morris will be targets for the Venom defense come Saturday night.

Shifting back to the Venom, the player to watch will be quarterback Brendan Crawford. Crawford scrambled for two touchdowns, but yielded three interceptions in the loss to New Mexico.

The Venom will also play host to Education Night, where teachers can enter the game for free with proper identification. Along with honoring those in the education profession, the Venom will be presenting free jerseys for the first 500 kids with a paid ticket.

The Amarillo Venom are a proud member of the Lone Star Football League. For more information and tickets, contact the Amarillo Venom office at (806) 350-7277.
