Amarillo Venom News Release

After nearly a month of practice and preparation, the Amarillo Venom will begin their 2016 campaign on the road, traveling to face the Texas Revolution at 7 p.m. on Friday at the Allen Events Center in Allen.

The game is available for viewing on www.govenom.com and www.eversport.tv, or if you are wanting to watch the game with fellow members of Venom Nation or meet up with your best friends for some indoor football, there will be a watch party at 7 Bar and Grill at 3130 South Soncy Rd. in Amarillo.

The Revolution (0-0) defeated the Texas Stealth of American Indoor Football by the score 63-34 in their preseason exhibition game on Feb. 26. Texas will be led by first-year head coach Victor Mann, who played college football at Kansas State and spent five seasons in the Arena Football League before moving on to coaching.

Mirroring Amarillo head coach Julian Reese, who coaches the San Jacinto football program, Mann is also coaching in the high school ranks as the head coach of the Calvary Christian football program in north Fort Worth.

The Venom will have to keep an eye on running back Darius Fudge, a veteran who aided the Texas run to the CIF Championship last season. In his 13 games in the 2015 campaign, Fudge led the Revs with 624 yards and 19 touchdowns. The Western Carolina product also hauled in six receiving touchdowns in 2015.

Another playmaker who will test the mettle of the defensive unit will be veteran wide receiver Clinton Solomon. Solomon, a former component of the prominent Iowa Hawkeye football teams of the mid-2000s, is the Revolution's all-time leader in receiving yards, receptions and touchdowns.

Last season, Texas won the season series two games to one, with the Venom achieving their lone victory at home by the score of 55-45. The Revs won the initial meeting 51-27 in Allen and the final meeting, 64-61 at Coors Field inside the Amarillo Civic Center Complex Cal Farley Coliseum.

The AMARILLO VENOM is a proud member of Champions Indoor Football. For more information and tickets, please contact the Venom office at (806) 350-7277.
