Vegas Vipers Running Back John Lovett Signs with Pittsburgh Steelers

ARLINGTON, TEXAS - The XFL announced that Vegas Vipers running back John Lovett has signed with the NFL's Pittsburgh Steelers. This brings the total number of players who have signed an NFL contract to 36. Lovett joins Brandon Dillon as the second Vegas player to sign an NFL contract, as Dillon signed with the Washington Commanders on May 30.

Lovett appeared in all 10 games for the Vipers in 2023 and finished with 227 rushing yards on 59 carries, including three rushing touchdowns. He also added 14 receptions for 269 yards and two receiving touchdowns. His 227 rushing yards ranked second on the team and 13th in the XFL.

To date, 136 invitations have been sent to XFL players for camps or to hold individual workouts with NFL teams since the conclusion of the regular season. Monday, May 15, was the first day XFL players could officially sign NFL contracts. If the players return to the XFL, they will resume with their former teams.
