
USL PRO Weekly: USL PRO Postseason Format Unveiled

United Soccer Leagues unveiled the postseason format for the 2011 USL PRO season today. The format, approved by a vote of the USL PRO Board of Governors, will see eight clubs advancing to the postseason in 2011. USL released the divisional alignment and schedule for USL PRO last week, with the 180-game regular season opening on Saturday, April 2.
The first round of the 2011 USL Pro Playoffs will feature four single-game quarterfinals taking place Friday-Sunday, August 19-21. The semifinals will be played a week later, with the 2011 USL PRO Championship, hosted by the highest remaining seed, to be played between September 2-4. Remaining teams will be re-seeded following the Quarterfinals.
Orlando City To Face Philadelphia
Orlando City and Philadelphia Union have announced that the Union will base their first leg of 2011 preseason training in Orlando, FL. The club will train in Orlando through 2014 as part of a four-year preseason arrangement. Bimbo Bakeries USA will be the presenting sponsor of the Union's camp each of the four years.
In 2011, Manager Peter Nowak's side will train from January 31 to February 20th, which will include an exhibition match against USL PRO club Orlando City. The match will be played on Saturday, February 19th, with kick off set for 7 p.m. at the Florida Citrus Bowl.
Belson To Be FC New York's Home
F.C. New York, the new professional soccer club of USL PRO, is pleased to announce that Belson Stadium on the grounds of St. John's University in Jamaica Queens will be the team's home for its 2011 inaugural season. F.C. New York will kick off the 2011 USL PRO regular season on April 30 by welcoming Orlando City.
Belson Stadium is a state-of-the-art, soccer-specific turf facility and one of the nation's premier home venues. Belson Stadium has created a significant home-field advantage for the St. John's men's and women's soccer programs. St. John's University is located in the heart of Queens close to all major parkways and Jamaica station - the transportation hub of Queens. The Long Island Railroad, numerous subway lines and several MTA bus lines are nearby at Jamaica station.

Brandon Owens was once a young American with potential. A member of the U.S. Under-17 team that reached the quarterfinals of the FIFA World Championship in 2003, he was a teammate of current pros like Jonathan Spector, Eddie Gaven, Freddy Adu and Corey Ashe.
He even scored in their opening game, a 6-1 thrashing of South Korea.
