Published on January 19, 2006 under USL First Division (USL-1) News Release
PHILADELPHIA, PA (Thursday, January 18, 2006) - United Soccer Leagues and Sprinturf announced Thursday at the NSCAA Convention a six-year partnership agreement making Sprinturf an Official Supplier and the Official Turf Supplier of United Soccer Leagues. Other terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Sprinturf designs, manufactures, installs and services artificial turf systems that look, feel and play like natural grass - but is safer and far more durable. In addition to providing athletic surfaces Sprinturf also offers a variety of other synthetic turf products for playgrounds, landscaping, golf greens and tees and recreational areas.
"We are excited to make this announcement as we fully believe that Sprinturf provides the best products in the market today," said USL Vice President Tim Holt. "We feel Sprinturf offers our member clubs with the greatest opportunity to compete and conduct business year-round on fields that are in outstanding condition, unaffected by weather or amount of use."
"Sprinturf has proven to be a leading provider for many other sports and we look forwarding to spearheading an effort to improve field quality of soccer facilities around the United States and Canada through our partnership with USL, a leader in a fast-growing sport," said Sprinturf President Elliot Levine.
The partnership also makes Sprinturf the title sponsor of the USL Executive of the Year honors for the USL First and Second Divisions, Premier Development League and W-League awarded at the USL Annual General Meeting held each November in Tampa, Florida. Other elements of the sponsorship include field signage at USL Championship events and promotional features for Sprinturf on the USL National Broadcast Package.
Supporting USL's commitment to bring soccer to every community in North America, Sprinturf will offer USL teams a variety of state-of-the-art playing surfaces specifically engineered for soccer to help teams maximize their ability to conduct business and execute programming. They are also one of the very few companies that not only designs, markets, and manufactures their own products, but also installs and services them. In addition to the recent installation of new Sprinturf fields at Pizza Hut Park (the home of MLS' FC Dallas), their impressive client list includes such notables as the Philadelphia Eagles, Auburn University and the Ohio State University. Within USL, Sprinturf is currently utilized at James Griffin Stadium, home of the Minnesota Thunder, and Archmere Academy, the training facility of the PDL expansion side Delaware Dynasty.
