FC Tucson News Release
Creating chances is one of the key ways to score goals, and scoring goals is the only way to win games. FC Tucson strengthened its attacking power with the addition of attacking midfielder Louis Perez.
The club announced the signing of 24-year-old Perez who previously played with the Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC in the USL Championship.
"I am excited to come to Tucson because it is a successful team with a great fanbase," said Perez. "I am also excited to give to the community and the club what I can bring outside and inside the field."
Perez joins the club after playing 793 minutes across 26 games with Pittsburgh. He grabbed two goals, one assist, and had a 69% passing accuracy rate in 2021.
The French international is the first Frenchman to join FC Tucson in its history. He started playing in his youth with various teams across France, including CO Vincennes, Paris Saint-Germain, AS Poissy and ESTAC Troyes. He made 33 first-team appearances with Troyes in Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 while under a youth contract between 2015 and 2017.
Perez played collegiate soccer with the University of Central Florida. He made 50 appearances, scoring seven goals and grabbing 16 assists across three seasons.
"We believe he is going to be a key attacking piece to score and create goals," said FC Tucson head coach Jon Pearlman. "He has a history of doing that at the collegiate and professional level, and we think he is going to help control the pace and get our goal scorers the ball."
He is the 18th player on FC Tucson's 2022 roster. He joins six returning starters from the 2021 playoff team, including midfielder João Delgado, and new addition Tevin Shaw.
