USL AGM Opens in Tampa

TAMPA, Fla. - The United Soccer Leagues' Annual General Meeting in preparation for the 2011 season kicked off this morning at the Hyatt Regency in Tampa, Florida. The gathering of the organization's professional and amateur league executives and coaches for operational, educational and scheduling meetings will conclude November 21.
The USL AGM is part of the USL SoccerFest, which also features the 2010 Super Y-League North American Finals and the USL Five-A-Side Frenzy, a local recreational tournament.
The AGM moves into high gear with the Kickoff Social Thursday evening at The Florida Aquarium and will get underway in earnest on Friday with a full day of league meetings and special seminars. Among the seminars will be sessions on developing international affiliations from Beswicks Sports and a college recruiting workshop presented by The Sports Source. Saturday's keynote speaker will be Alon Harazi, chief scout for Israeli Premier League club Maccabi Haifa.
The annual USL Hall of Fame and Awards Dinner, presented by Demosphere, concludes the festivities Friday evening as the teams gather to honor the teams and executives for their performances during 2010 and the induction ceremony for the USL Hall of Fame. The Chicago Fire (PDL), Pittsburgh Riverhounds (USL PRO), Orange County Blue Star (PDL), Southern California Seahorses (PDL), Seattle Sounders (W-League) and Vancouver Whitecaps (W-League) will be inducted as 10+ Clubs, while the late Betsy McAdams (Charleston Battery) will be inducted as a Builder, Bob Lilley (Rochester Rhinos) will be inducted as a Coach and Doug Miller (Rochester Rhinos) will be honored as a Player.
The AGM continues Saturday with continued league meetings, and the evening concludes with a special evening at the Ed Radice Sports Complex where the Super Y-League Finals action features a 7 p.m. U17 Boys Showcase Match between the MPS Bulldogs and Tampa Bay Premier, and dinner.
The AGM closes with 2011 scheduling sessions on Sunday. USL Soccer Fest continues Monday and Tuesday with the semifinals and championship matches of the SYL North American Finals.
