Players of the Week: Including a three-point game on a pair of goals and an assist on the overtime game-winner in a 4-3 victory over Fargo last Saturday, Gavin O'Connell (Waterloo/USHL Forward of the Week) registered six points on five goals and assist in three games played last week.

Ben Robertson (Waterloo/USHL Defenseman of the Week) had a goal and four assists with nine shots on goal and was +1 in three games last week for the Black Hawks.

Cameron Korpi (Tri-City/USHL Goaltender of the Week) went 2-0-0 with a 1.50 GAA and .958 sv% in two games last week. The Western Michigan commit had a season-high 35 saves in a 3-2 road win at Sioux Falls last Sunday. He also had 33 saves in a 4-1 win at Omaha Saturday.

Stand by Me: With an 8-2-0-0 record its last 10 games, the USA Hockey NTDP program has moved into second place in the Eastern Conference standings. First-place Chicago (24-12-2-1) leads the East with 51 points, with the NTDP following with 47. The NTDP owns the league's best home record with a 15-6-0-2 mark in its own building.

One of the hottest teams in the USHL, Waterloo (25-13-0-0) has gone 8-2-0-0 in its last 10 games and stands second in the Western Conference with 50 points. Fargo (25-8-1-3) has 54 points and has gone 6-3-1-0 in its last 10.

Crease is the Word: Dubuque netminder Marcus Brännman posted back-to-back shutouts at the end of last week in a pair of 3-0 wins over Green Bay. A native of Bromma, Sweden, Brännman stands 13-5-2-1 for the season with a 2.88 goals against average and a .910 save percentage. His four shutouts on the year are tied for the league lead.

Fargo's Matej Marinov stands 14-0-0-0 on the year and leads the USHL with a 2.09 goals against average and a .924 save percentage. His crease mate, Anton Castro, stands 11-8-1-1 with a 2.45 GAA and a .911 save percentage. Fargo has allowed a league-low 92 goals in 37 games on the season. Lincoln ranks second in fewest goals allowed with 105.

Rollin': A pair of forwards in Tri-City's Graham Gamache and Youngstown's William Whitelaw both are riding seven-game point scoring streaks. Gamache, a Minnesota State commit, has tallied 11 points during this span on six goals and five assists. Whitelaw, who is committed to the University of Wisconsin, has racked up eight goals and five assists for 13 points in the last seven games.

USHL NHL Alumni Spotlight: Forward Joe Pavelski, who skated for Waterloo from 2002-04 and matriculated at the University of Wisconsin before joining the San Jose Sharks in 2006-07, is closing in on the 1000-point plateau for his NHL career. The Plover, Wis., native has registered 435 goals and 537 assists for 972 points in 1,220 games. Currently an alternate captain for the Dallas Stars, Pavelski has 14-34--48 in 52 games in 2022-23.

USHL College Commitments 2022-23: A total of 346 current USHL players have committed to play NCAA Division I college hockey. 50 schools are represented amongst the 346 commitments including 91 players headed to Hockey East teams, 85 players to the National Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHC), 77 players to Big 10 programs, 55 players to the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Association (ECAC), 31 players to the Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA), four players to independent programs and three players to Atlantic Hockey (AHA) teams.
