USHL Draft Held Tuesday

Phase 2 of the 2014 USHL Draft was held on Tuesday and four players associated with the Blizzard were among those selected.
The Sioux City Musketeers selected Blizzard goaltender Garret Forrest in the 11th round of the draft, 181 overall. The youngest player on the Blizzard roster, Forrest spent the majority of the 2013-14 season in Brookings, primarily in a reserve roll. He played in 5 games and finished with a 2-1-1 record, starting the final 4 games of the year. A native of Ashburn, VA, Forrest still has three years of eligibility remaining.
The other three players selected in the USHL Draft were tendered players for the 2014-15 season. A tender is a contract, of sorts, a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders - plus or minus any trades - which become active on Nov. 1. Tendered players are not eligible for the NAHL draft.
Dylan Woolf was drafted highest among the affiliated Blizzard players. The 6' 2" 205 lb. defenseman was selected in the second round, 23nd overall, by the Lincoln Stars. During his senior season at Holy Family Catholic High School, Woolf had 31 points in 27 games with 6 goals and 25 assists.
Ryan Swanson, another defenseman from Holey Family Catholic High School in Minneapolis, MN, was selected 178th overall in the 11th round by the Dubuque Fighting Saints. Swanson had 53 points in games with 14 goals and 39 assists. He also recently committed to play college hockey at Army.
Eddie Eades, son of Sioux Falls Stampede head coach Cary Eades, was selected by the Stampede in the 12th round and 185th overall. The defenseman played his senior season at East Grand Forks High School and had 26 in 31 games with 10 goals and 16 assists in 2013-2014.
Each player will have a chance to make his or her respective team's roster this summer at camp. The Blizzard will still retain each player's NAHL rights if by chance they do not make the team's final roster.
The Blizzard will host their first pre-draft camp in Duluth, MN next week, May 16-18th. The NAHL Draft will be held June 3rd.
